CPN Artists: Julie Ferguson
Julie Ferguson, a CPN tribal member of the Juneau family line, lives in the Tulsa area, is married to her husband of 40+ years, and has 3 adult children. She became interested in beading when she took a job as an Indian Education tutor in the public-school setting. Her daughter had already become a self-taught bead artist, so Julie decided to give it a try as well. After learning a few techniques from her daughter, she watched YouTube videos to fill in the gaps. One of the first stitches Julie tackled was the Potawatomi stitch which can resemble a daisy chain. She is especially fond of the floral motifs unique to the tribes of the Great Lakes region and generally crafts her pieces with a floral flair.
