Birchbark Quill Box

These birchbark boxes or baskets are handmade by the Slave Tribe from Ft Liard in the Northwest territories. They are bound together with spruce roots on the lid and artificial sinew on the bottom, and are decorated with dyed porcupine quills on the lid only.  They are tied with moose hide leather laces that may or not be smoked.
